[TenTec] Ten-Tec 706 Microphone

I have a Argonaut V, version 1.08, which works great with hand microphone, but I'm having to run Mic Gain all way clock wise to start ALC light to blink with the 706 desk microphone.

Hand Mic Gain sets around 11 o'clock.  Has anyone else had this problem? 

Removing the foam over the mic element will, of course, reduce the Mic Gain setting to about same setting as hand microphone, but I feel like I shouldn't have to do this.
