When my 509 was acting like this, it was the band switch.
I spent a lot of tie cleaning the switch positions and the problem
disappeared.

Subject: [TenTec] Argo 509 receive problem

Hi,

I have an Argo 509 with a strange problem. Sometimes when I turn the rig
on, or after I transmit, the receiver becomes very quiet. You can not hear
atmospheric noise and signals that were in the s6 or so range no longer
move the meter.

It goes as randomly as it comes. Sometimes it comes back on its own,
sometimes I have to turn it off and on again a few times, sometimes,
but not always I have to transmit to clear it. Otherwise the rig works
fine except for the previously mentioned dial cord problem.

I've checked the obvious such as power supply problems, dirty switches and
fuses, intermitent cables, and loose internal connections.

It's almost as if the T/R relay is dirty, but it doesn't have one.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks and 73,

Geoff.
