[TenTec] SP-325 question

I have an SP-325-411 which tunes down to 300 kHz with both the tuning 
knob and keypad frequency entry.  Yet every seller of an SP-325 that's 
for sale on eBay says the lower frequency limit is 500 kHz.  Is the 
325-411 unusual in this way?
