I failed to indicate the following about the Ten-Tec items I have for sale.
I had planned to first send The Paragon & Omni 6 Plus to Ten-Tec for a
checkout. Both rigs work fine but I just want to be sure that who ever
purchases these rigs gets what they expect and pay for. I would pay for
shipping from NJ to Tenn. and from Tenn. to where ever the final US
destination is. I failed to list in the ad that the Paragon has all full
compliment of filters and FM. No Voice or RS232. Has a very small scratch on
internal speaker cover. I was the original purchaser from Henry Radio in
1991. The Paragon has been to Ten-Tec 1 time for a minor repair. I have full
documentation and original manuals including repair sheet. Omni 6 Plus has
the original manuals and a full compliment of filters for both IF's.
My direct e-mail is wb3ebn at arrl.net I am also a non-smoker and Omni 6 Plus
came from a non-smoker.

Common I think.
I could hear it on my OMNI V - actually 2 reeds switch there. Cross band
switches a lot more reeds.
I do not hear any clicks on my ORION.

Get a GOOD QUALITY (not Harbor Freight, etc.) Allen, or Hex wrench of either
Metric 1.3mm, or American .050"
size for the screw holding the main tuning knob on most of the older Ten Tec
rigs. A poor quality wrench is likely to turn inside the screw head,
rounding the corners of the wrench and possibly even the screw. My first
PTO rebuild was on a Corsair II, and I did that one without pulling the
front panel, but certainly would never recommend this approach. I have done
several since then, and its much easier/simpler for me, to pull the front
panel.

Thanks for the information. You are right that you ought to use the
attenuator. With the S meter pegged on the "in the passband signals", we
don't know how far down the "out of the passband signals" are. (of
course an Omni VI S meter is not a lab instrument, so we're not going to
know with any great precision anyway) Nevertheless your observations are
better than no data at all.

My Orion puts out 20 W in TUNE mode, but the meter shows over 40 W.
I've determined that the meter itself is highly nonlinear.

I was going with what my Orion's meter said. The only external meter I used
was the one in my external antenna tuner and I'm pretty sure that that needs
to be recalibrated. I was only using the antenna tuner's reading as a
relative indication. But the Orion does indicate around 40 w, not 20.

Beppe, I believe there are two relays on CW. One is the keying relay
which operates in synchronization with your code elements. Some people
with sensitive hearing can hear that relay. There also must be a T/R
(transmit/receive) relay. It sounds like you're hearing the keying relay.

There is no T/R relay in the Orion. Only a keying relay.

Just checked mine and the Orion meter does appear to read too high by abt a
factor of 2.
The power does stay on when I hit TUNE with the internal tuner disabled.
