[TenTec] Production of Classic Argonaut 515

Why is the Analog Triton IV a better RX than the Argonaut 515 (other than
the 8-pole vs. 4-pole filter)? I thought they were basically the same
receivers.

Doug,

According to Rich Arland in his book Low Power Communication, only 800+
were ever made. I don't know what the "+" means. Manufacturers never start
their serial numbers with 1; 100 is more likely. So you must have one of
the last. He goes on to say "so prices on these rigs are extremely
high." I didn't find that to be true; I sold one from an estate. I would
call them "overpriced." An analog Triton-IV will go down in power from 100
to essentially zero watts, has a better receiver, makes a fine QRP rig, and
costs much less.
