[TenTec] Omni C Sidetone

I recently purchased an Omni-C and fired it up this afternoon.
What does the sidetone sound like on these rigs?  This one 
has a rough sounding side tone even though I played with the 
tone and volume adjustments.  The transmitted signal is ok.
