[TenTec] Yaesu FT9000 oversights in QST review

I noticed two other points not editorially mentioned in the QST review
of the latest Click-meister

rig.

Figure 5 in that review shows very sharp rise and fall times; although
the text says that menu settings

exist to minimize clicks, surely the approximately 1ms rise times shown
in the figure would produce

monumental FT1k type clicks.

Secondly, Figure 6 shows a horrendous transmit noise floor; close in
noise is 20 dB higher than

the Orion measured by the League. That translates to 20dB excess
interference caused to innocent

nearby listeners.

OTOH, putting an attenuator in front of the Orion, or any other
well-designed radio, will not improve

the two tone dynamic range; it raises the MDS and the third order
intercept point by the same

amount. The attenuator merely moves the spurious free "window" around.
For further information

on this point, see the Leagues' classic book by DeMaw and Haywood.
