[TenTec] Orion I and II, etc.

My, this list has been very filled with writings lately - it's
been hard to find the time to keep reading it all Here is my
one and only post to add to this ever-continuing thread on the
new Orion, etc., after several days of reflection:

If I am not mistaken, the only Ten-Tec radio that was provided
with a means to upgrade to anything close to the next model was
with the Omni 6, and its Option 1, 2, and 3 upgrades. But even
they didn't give you a new Omni 6+ (although they could come
close). I can't imagine that all the complainers were folks who
were spoiled by Omni 6 upgrades, and therefore think it should
be normal or expected for the Orion, but I could be mistaken.
I'd like to believe that most of us have learned instead to
accept each model of Ten-Tec radio for what it is - a capsule
for the best radio (within reason) for each period of time they
were designed and maunfactured, many of whom are still good in
their own rights as functioning radios.

Only time will tell if Ten-Tec will continue to support firmware
upgrades for the original Orion after the release of v.2
firmware. I am hopeful that they will, but also won't be
surprised if at some point it becomes too hard to support
equivalent firmware for both (and yet future) versions of the
Orion, and therefore focus their attention on the Orion II only.

In the meantime, until v.2 firmware comes out, I would hope that
everyone tries to be as patient as possible in waiting to see
what happens and enjoy what they have.
