Using the remote VFO to get dual receive is a feature that actually goes all
the way back to the Triton IV in 1976.

The Corsair's also have this feature. I don't know about the Omni but
on the Corsairs not only can you listen to two frequencies (on the same
band) at once, you can also adjust the relative level of each frequency
to emphasize one or the other or make them the same. Nice feature
and WAY ahead of it's time maybe. Of course the Hallicrafters
Cyclone with remote VFO also had dual receive but at equal level, no
adjustment.
