[TenTec] Should I buy an Orion now or wait

Toby,
Time base jitter is something the Orion has when transmitting. I assume it
is only connected to the generation of CW as I only briefly tested mine
maybe two times on SSB.
It is present however it is not enough that it can be heard on the air. But
in any event, on my two Orion's, the start of a CW character (dot or dash)
would vary anywhere from two to four milliseconds between each generated
dot. The spacing between CW characters (two dots or a dot and a dash)would
also vary by approximately the same amount. The width of a dot and/or a dash
will also vary the same amount.
While this may not sound good, it is not audible to the ear, meaning one has
to observe it with an oscilloscope. On my two Orion's, no matter what speed
I ran, from 5 wpm to max, people listening to my Orion's signal could never
detect the jitter in their receiver. So basically it is a non-issue?

What exactly is "cw signal timebase jitter"? Any relation to dead spots
or noise bursts?
