[TenTec] OT: Strange Signal on 3.530/3.540

Pat,

I haven't looked at 3.990, but I recall seeing some mention that it was DRM,
the digital SW broadcasting. According to my latest DRM schedule, Deutsche
Welle (the German National station) broadcasts in DRM from 1600 to 1000 on
3.995. The transmitter is in Germany and the target is Europe, but they are
using 200 kW.

I suspect that domestic interference would prevent stateside decoding of the
signal. However, there are a few broadcasts beamed at North America (from
the Caribbean or Sackville, Canada) and they can be decoded using a computer
and soundcard with software, and using a modified rig that brings out the
low (12 - 14 kHz) IF. I've decoded and listened to DRM using the RX320,
Pegasus or Orion.

73,
Mark
