Just because someone is a ham, doesn't necessarily make them immune to 
tempatations, greed and deceit etc.  I used to think otherwise until I dealt 
with a "ham" on a reflector.  It only cost me a TS-530 with the MC50 
microphone, but the lesson learned was worth something.

Electronic auctions have their "pro" and "cons".  I used to lived in 
Northern Virginia and went to many ham fest in VA, PA, MD, really lots of 
ham fests, but here in the foothills of the Ozarks in MO hamfest are far and 
few.  So I find the e - auctions very helpful.
