Like Carl, I get good audio reports on my Orion II from friends that have 
listened to me on MANY radios.  I use the Heil PR-40 mic and no outside 
processing at all.  I built the cable for the microphone myself from Heil 
cable and plugs that I bought from Burghardt at the time I got the PR40.  My 
settings:

TX EQ     -18 db
LF Rolloff    150 hz
Mic      50
Don't use SP at all
