I still have my "original owner - last production run" Corsair II with all
filters and external VFO. Side by side "ear ball" testing with Paragon (II)
and OMNI VI+ (both late production models) have shown the Corsair II's
greatest advantage to be dual receive capability in the DX pile-up... and no
phantom (IMD) signals as the result of mixing of close in strong signals in
the pile up (A+B-C, 2A-B, etc) with the capability of of hearing a "S-0 DX
signal" 2 KHz down from a pile with numerous S-9+30 signals. "You can't
work'em if you can't hear'em'
No computer interface may be a disadvantage, but the Corsair II with remote
VFO is still next to the OMNI VI+ for the times when a second receiver or
dual receive transceiver is needed. Other TT tranceivers have come and
gone.... the Corsair II stays and for the money remains the best radio, I'll
ever own.
