[TenTec] Radio Control/Contesting??

Let me ask you this, I am reading some of the manuals now and it seems almost all rigs have the "dual watch" feature if operated
properly with the external VFO.

Now my question is:
Is it just like the "Dual Watch" I am used to whereby I can listen on split to the dx's transmit and split frequency at the same
time in order to tell what the pile up is doing or do I have to switch back and forth to listen to both.
