[TenTec] Omni audio mod

If you go to the tentec list archive and enter "audio mod" you will get many
many past posts on the inrad audio mod for the omni V and VI. go to
http://lists.contesting.com and click on tentec and searchable archives

Depending on what is meant by "muffled" the mod may or may not help. for
example, it may be said to be muffled because your carrier set points are
wrong. Properly adjusting them may give you the clear audio you want. Or,
it could be the microphone you are using.

The audio mod improves rx audio fidelity by widening the bandwidth from 2.4
khz to 2.8 khz and also by flattening the audio response curve across the rx
passband.

There are two crystal IF filters involved: 6 and 9 MHz. The one that goes
in the 9 MHz IF is also used to control the tx signal bandwidth, so if you
use the 2.8 khz filter in that IF your tx bandwidth will be 2.8 KHz.
Thanks for asking a question. I would like for more hams outside the U.S.
to participate here. Perhaps list activity is low over on your side due to
other priorities (W.C. hi hi). Here's an off topic question for the dx
chasers--Is dx activity down due to the world cup?

73,

rob / k5uj
