[TenTec] Solid State Amps

Probably a lot of reasons why the JA's never built as many amps as US 
companies.  The power limitation in both Japan (I don't know what it is) and 
other countries could be a big reason, which relates to a somewhat limited 
market. Also, there are the shipping costs and potential transit damage that 
put them at a competitive disadvantage compared to US companies here.
