[TenTec] Modifying Centaur air intake to reduce air noise?

I took a pair of pliers and carefully bent each louver so that it was
horizontal thinking that it might reduce some of the air turbulence
and noise. That did reduce the howl but it is still very noisy. I
was going to follow Carl's approach but actually use the amp so
seldom that a pair of noise reducing headphones has worked just
fine. Turn on Centaur, flip switch on headphones. Down the road I,
too, am going to put in a voltage dropping resistor. At one time
Radioshack had a 50CFM 110v fan. I don't know if it is still available.
