You want keying loop 1 always turned on to use the amp. You have it wired
correctly. The amp should key only when you key the radio. Also, there is a
filter required to use the Acom 2000 with the Orion. This filter is
available from TenTec and is free.

Subject: [TenTec] New Orion Owner needs help
Hi All,
I got my new 566 Orion 2 yesterday and I am wading my way thru' all the
settings on the rig, which there are lots of, couple of things that I have
found that I am not sure about (cant read and take it in that fast, you know
what its like you want to get it going as soon as poss) is ;-
1. CW Side tone adjustment where is it??? as it nearly deathens me cant
find reference to Sidetone in the Audio menu's .
2. ALC light on CW when the rig is keyed it is ON so looks to me as if the
rig is going out of ALC?? cant see any reference to this in the manual
3. I have connected my Acom 2000a to it with the TX OUT 1 to the KEY IN on
the Acom, and TX EN to KEY OUT on the Acom, this will key the amp but the RX
audio is down, and you can hear the rig being attenuated when you go from
STB (standby) to OPR This in effect like putting a 25Db attenuator in line?
The Keying Loop 1 when set to ON does not key the rig either, turn this off
it keys with the amp but with the attenuated RX
That is the few things I want to get sorted so I can try and get on the
air this weekend
Any help would be greatly appreciated
