[TenTec] TT 709 Mic

Dave,

I have an Orion II. I use the TT 708 microphone and have gotten nothing but
positive feedback about it's audio. Those audio reports have all been
unsolicited, by the way! The 708 is an omni-directional dynamic mic. I
bought it when I ordered the Orion II, a few months ago, only because I had
nothing else and I wanted to be able to operate phone as soon as the radio
arrived. I originally planed to eventually purchase one of Heil's mics after
I had the Orion for a while, and after asking around about what would be the
best Heil for that rig. After operating SSB with the 708, since early July,
and based on the reports I have received from other stations, both DX and
stateside, the purchase of a Heil has been moved way down my "wish list".
This is by no means a reflection on Heil, but based on my operating
experience with the 708, after these few months, I can't justify replacing
it.

Subject:	[TenTec] TT 709 Mic

All,

I haven't seen much feedback on the list about the TT 709 mic. I'm
looking for a mic to use with my Orion (original) as all I have at the
moment is a TT 701 hand mic. I've looked some at the Heil mics, but I
hadn't noticed the 709. I'm interested in using it as a boom mic and think
I can adapt it to my existing homebrew boom mount. I've been looking at the
Heil GM-5 and PR-20, but the TT mics have generally gotten good reviews and
the price is pretty decent.

If you have any feedback you're willing to share, pls let me know.
Thanks...

Dave / K8JDC
