RE filters, etc.

In the 500 and 250 Hz positions an amplifier is engaged.

What some do to avoid the amp is move the 1000 Hz filter to the 1.8 position 
and get a 600Hz or alternate for 9001.5 mHz which  is the ssb bfo freq. This 
is put in the 1000Hz position.

All of this would be good for cw, and ssb as long as you never set bandwidth 
below 1810 in ssb mode(it will now go to 1000Hz at 1800)

Remember these are ROOFING filters.

Other variations may be made, too.

My Orion will center the 9001.5 filter in the 500Hz position also, so it may 
be used there as well if you change your mind later. When in this position, 
receive signals jump up an "s" unit or so, proving the amp is functional(and 
possibly causing some degradation of IMD)
