[TenTec] Omni VI Opt 1 or Omni VI + ?

John,
I now have my OMNI VI opt 3. Got here real quick from Ten Tec.
Everything seems to work perfect except one thing that has me puzzled.
There is a N.B. knob that does not seem to do anything. I looked on the
reflector and found one person who also thought he had the problem and
some one suggested he get a hair dryer and make noise to check his noise
blanker. So far I have not been able to make any noise to be able to
check it! Since you have a OMNI VI plus, I was wondering if your
control did anything and what kind of noise should I expect to see
reduced? My DSP buttons LP and NR work about like I expected. By the
way I have a Ten Tec Scout that I installed the Ten Tec noise blanker in
after I had it a while and it is really impressive. I sort of expected
that in the OMNI VI.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Don N4DJ

I have both an Omni VI opt 1 and an Omni VI Plus and neither manual has
much to say. The plus manual says "You must verify the amplifier key
input
requires only a low voltage dc connection to ground" The Vi manual
doesn't
even have this note.
I like my transceivers very much but Ten-Tec's manuals leave a lot to be

desired.
I would suggest calling Ten-Tec service. They are very helpful.
When I get my shack finished I am going to run a Collins 30s-1 but will
be
using a black box in between.
