Thanks, Cedric.  Next time I'll try it again.  I had all other applications
shut down, so I'm not sure why it didn't work.. I have an Orion I, not a II,
so that may have something to do with it.

Strange. I was able to upgrade with my microHam (microKeyer). Be sure 
you close all programs accessing the virtual COM port.

I'm the proud owner of an Orion II since one week...
