Hello TenTec group,
Well for my money, and that is what it comes down to in this shack, I buy a product to use not to improve.
All of my ham friends in this area have HF rigs made in other places than the US. So my intro to HF was to these rigs.Wanting to purchase an US radio I later bought a TenTec 580 Delta, later a Jupiter.
When I was a bit younger I liked to see what made things work. When I became older and realized where the money was coming from I no longer tried "to make things better".
Another thought I have is that I am an amateur operator that wants to operate on the air, not on the equipment. Of course all of this may have something with the fact that I know nothing about writing code, C++. amd etc. So it is really a no brainer for me to keep "hands off" of my equipment.
Well, that is my money talking. What you do with your money is your business, and I do like to hear what you are doing and have to say about what you are doing in amateur radio.
Goodnigh, goodluck and 73,
Henry/N9HM

While the use or non-use of open source may be interesting to theorists like
yourselves, I believe it is off topic for this particular group.
That is just my opinion. I could be wrong.
