[TenTec] Inrad Omni VI+ Audio Mod

Larry,

I did the mod on my Omni 6 + (factory mod'd version for the 'Plus"). I have
also put the INRAD SSB and CW filters into the radio. The advice from INRAD
back 3-4 years ago when I did this was that the "audio" mod was not very
effective unless you were already planning to use the INRAD SSB filters in
conjunction with the mod. The effects of the mod are to allow you to
appreciate the "audio effects" associated with shifting the passband tuning.
I use it to knock off the high frequency hiss . However, the DSP filtering
does that as well. It is an easy mod to install and the INRAD filters are
superior to the original TT filters for both CW and SSB.

>From the standpoint of receive audio quality, when I want to listen to Hi-Fi
SSB, I simply turn on my Collins 75A-4. Best sounding SSB audio of anything
out there today. However, it is nowhere near as selective, sensitive or
effective in digging sigs out of QRM, QRN and QSB as the OMNI 6+ receiver is
!!!!!!!!! Then again, it is 50 years old !!!!!

73 and enjoy your TT gear,
