Neither rig is better than the other. They are quite different, and your choice needs to be made according to your wants from that rig.

If it's a pure, ham-bands only transciever with the ability to hear everything, no matter how weak, and to contest and chase DX, the Omni will win hands down.

If you're a more casual operator who would like to SWL on occasion, the Paragon may be the ticket.

I have an Omni VI+, 2 Paragon's and 2 Corsait II's. They all get used and all of them are a joy. Check in to tentecwiki.org and look up the features of each. Make your decision. If it has TT and an orange (or is it red?) dot on the front panel, you'll love it
