Bob, I am not challenging what you say. All I can tell you is what I have done. I have a 3KW tuner. It is the 989C from MFJ. The D series is the update tuner at present. On my tuner I have keydowned legal limit and never a peep .... Burning or noise from tuner. I have had it since January 1997 and it has worked flawlessly.
