Right on Paul. Shouldn't tax the gray matter at all. The expression has been around and in use for years. If the nit-picker couldn't figure it out, all he had to do was ask and that would be the end of it.

i think some are nit-picking on the expression "lower 48" ... It just means to me that Alaska and Hawaii are not encluded. It is sort of like saying I need a "Kleenex" which really means you need a tissue.
We sure can get hung up on un-important things and waste band width.

Which of Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, or perhaps
Maine are you excluding? Hawaii is definitely the "lowest" if by lower
you mean more South.
