We're really wandering off the TT thread, but just to add my 2 cents - if
you don't have an account at the bank you want to cash the check at, they
probably won't cash it for you.  Yep, that's right - try it some time!

The best way to deal with a check is to take it to the band from which it
was drawn and cash it then deposit the cash in your own
account. That way the person with the account will account for it, not you
in case it is no good.
