HI ALL,
With all the discussion about headphones I decided to check mine out. I have a set of Kenwood HS-5 phones. These are marked as being 8 ohms. 
I set the volume at a comfortable level on the spkr and then plugged in the phones. I did not feel that any adjustment was necessary. I did this using both the internal spkr and an external spkr.
