Putting on a fly wheel helps to eliminate the drag.

Once the caps are centered I adjust the roller inductor to minimum SWR.  Then tune the caps and repeat starting with the roller inductor if necessary.

On Field day this year they complained at the CW tent that they could not work any one on 15M.  SWR was 1:1 , They had it tuned in the wrong spot.  Did the above procedure and and they had pile up going.

So, L net works do not have this problem.  That SWEET SPOT is tough to find.  Shift from SSB to CW on 20M requires adjustment.  Balanced tuner has that SWEET SPOT where there is no need to adjust.
