I do not understand radio manufacturers.  It always seemed to me that the 
basic design of radios was 90° out of phase.  I'd like to have a rig that 
sat on its end, rather like a computer tower.  That would give a much 
smaller footprint, thus take up much less desk space.  The tuning knob could 
be in the center near the bottom and the frequency display placed at eye 
level.  Perhaps using that as a basis for design, manufacturers could 
produce ambidextrous radios.

Otherwise a southpaw can turn his radio upside-down (or stand on his head).
