So now I guess this begs the question - Why use the M4T32-BR12SH1 battery?

If the xtal in the battery pack is not used why use such an exotic battery?  Yes it "snaps" onto U501 but user accessibility is almost nil.  At almost double the capacity is the readily available CR2032.  It is a 3V lithium battery used in almost every PC desktop on the planet and available .... everywhere!

Oh well .... I thought I'd ask!
