 Steve
??? talked to a coupla of the local guys who use ten tec ,they all seem to agree with you and myself the corsair II does have a more plesant audio. They also thought the omni-V sounded better than the VI did , something about not being able to shut down the dsp board. I never owned a VI ,so I don't know . As of now ,my V is a real headache maker on ssb. thought seems to be with the bfo adjustments. Iam learning as I go ,the corsairII and the V are my first ten tecs, they do seen to go to a bit of a differant drummer ,than the rice box guys.

I have both an Omni V and a Corsair II. The Omni has the N4PY upgrade.
The receive audio in the Corsair II sounds much clearer to my badly
shot up ears. I have been able to copy weak CW stations much easier on
that radio, than on the Omni V. The Omni has been back to Ten Tec
service and has been properly aligned, and I asked them to check out the
audio to see if perhaps the caps on the audio board had dried out
causing the audio to lack clarity. From what they could tell, it was
working fine. The audio filter in the Omni is pretty much useless. I
had much better performance ignoring it and using my outboard Autek
audio filter instead. The audio filter in the Corsair II seems to work
much better. Both radios use the speaker built into the Ten Tec power
supply, so that much is a constant. While the Omni V is much more
sophisticated, and has a greater array of features, I find it much less
pleasant to use, and currently it is sitting here on a chair, while the
Corsair II and external VFO are fired up on the operating desk. I
suspect that others have had different experiences with the two
different rigs, but I much prefer the older PTO tuned radio.

Your mileage may vary...
