Sorry, I tuned in late and missed most of the correspondence on this 
issue, so pardon me if it has already been addressed...

..but just going by the very simple, one sentence description of the 
problem above, are you sure that it is not RF getting into the radio on SSB?

Have you tried it into a dummy load to see if the problem goes away? 
Possibly the dreaded "pin 1" issue?
