[TenTec] Orion low Power on 15 meters and high frequencies

My Orion (original model) has low power output on 17 meters and higher
freqs.  Sending dashes, as I turn up the PWR control, the power increases
and the ALC indicator lights on peaks until the output power reaches a
certain level--at that point the ALC light goes out and the power shown on
the power meter  will not increase further even though the PWR control is
advanceced.  Power output is almost ok on 17-this effect doesn't occur until
about 95% power out.  On 15 the output limits at about 70%.  On 12  it
limiits at around 50%., and on 10 it limits at  about 80%.  On 20 and lower
freqs, I can reach 100% on the power meter, and the ALC light always
flashes.    

 

I called Ten Tec, and they told me to reboot, which did not help.  I am
running 2.062a firmware.  

 

Ten Tec also suggested that I open up the radio and make sure all the board
and cable connections are ok.  I have not done this, but it seems unlikely
to fix the problem, since they were unable to suggest what connection was
likely to be at fault.

 

Can anyone help me with this?
