I also have the Omni VI+ and what i did to widen the SSB RX response was
to install the INRAD SSB mod which consists of some capacitors that
replace existing caps on the board.  What it does is to move the notch
filter out of the passband at it's minimum setting as there is no way to
turn the notch filter off. It also eliminated the high frequency roll
off and the pass band ripple.  It worked so well that i repaced the
stock 2.8 SSB filters that come in the radio, including the Y2 filter,
with 2.1 INRAD filters and the RX is now perfect. I also have the SSB
roofing filter and various other filters, but that's another story.
