I have also seen it where the crystal contacts are a little oxidized, and inserting and removing the crystal helped the clean the contacts. I made the fix by following up with a tiny dab of Deoxit on a toothpick, and gently burnishing the crystal contacts. No pressure, just a little twirl. David Goncalves W1EUJ
