[TenTec] Yamaha CM-500 boomset use with Orion II?

I am building one for myself, but the guys at the contest station like 
the manufactured pads, as they are so blasted convenient.   I am making 
my own adapters, with variable resistors (pots) that may allow me to 
vary the attenuation to use different mics on different rigs.
