[TenTec] TEN TEC TOTALLY TWISTED CLUB

I think to be a member of the Ten Tec Totally Twisted Club, you have to rebuild the PTO and drop the little locking pin into the carpet, find it and drop it again, find it once more, install it and put the PTO back together. The PTO rebuild part is easy, losing that pin and finding it again, twice, is MURDER.

Thanks to Dub Thornton and Andrew Moore, I was able to finally remove the
tuning knob from my Corsair II without resorting to using bad words! I was
trying to use a 1/16 inch hex wrench but Dub and Andrew pointed out that I
should be using a 0.050 inch hex wrench. After I got out the correct wrench
things went a lot better. It only took a few trys before I was able to
locate the small set screw through the large hole. If the hole was smaller
and if the hole was continuous down to the screw, it would be a lot easier
to find the head of the small set screw. Basically the knob is a poor
design. I doubt if Ten-Tec designed it, they probably just purchased it
from one of the knob companies. By some of the discussion, I am guessing
the first time removal of the Corsair II tuning knob is some sort of "right
of passage?" Am I now in the exclusive club? ;-)

Jerry:

1/16" allen wrench is too large for the screw. Metric 1.3mm, or
American .050" will do the trick, however, be sure you get a good
quality allen wrench. The cheap import stuff, such as Harbor
Freight, etc., will sometimes round off the corners of the wrench and
spin inside the set screw. Don't ask me how I know this... hi...
