[TenTec] Additional audio out for Argosy 525

GM,

I want to add an additional audio out for my Argosy so I can feed it to an external keyer/reader. I originally ran a wire from the phone jack to one of the spare RCA jacks on the back of the unit, but now have an added level of white noise that is always there even if the AF is turned all the way down. I'm thinking that that wire needs to be sheilded?
