Well,
It seems high to me too, but there is a need for it. Like QRP rigs (Elecraft, TT, Flex guys wanting 100 watts now & then.
But, look at the Elecraft 500 watt amp at $2,000!!! WOW, that's too much too.

IMHO $800 is just crazy to pay for a 100w amp. I can hear the naysayers already 
nd how other companies offer less etc but I just don't see much of a market for 
n 100w amp for $800.00.
