[TenTec] Reputable dealer vs Hamfests

Dear James
Standing behind the gear is key. I won't buy something unless I feel this
will be the case. On the other hand, I've yet to sell anything (my wife
wants to remedy this) but I will stand behind what I sell. Shipping can
introduce problems and these need to be factored in as well.

When I sell a radio, I stand behind it. I don't want to lose a friendship
over a bad radio.
Yes, I have bought a bad radio or two, once I opened the radio and a hole
was burned through the PC board, I took it back to the ham I bought it from
and showed everyone around the junk he was selling. That guy refunded my
money and packed-up and left the show.
If I buy a rig, I get the hams address, call and phone number. Let him know
the rig had better be as represented. Sometimes the rig needs work, as a PTO
rebuild, that is OK.
If you find a rig on a listing, ask to have a demo. E-ham, QEZ, and swapnets
are better than E-bay. Prices tend to be higher on E-bay because of the
people trying to speculate.
I have only been burned a time or two. 73'S KA5SIW

I remember when (many moons ago) you would attend a swap-meet and be pretty
assured that the items you bought was as stated by reputable seller's who
were, mostly, original owners. Over time, with the influx of "2nd hand
dealers" this is no longer the case.
Some say it's the sign of the times. Score: Dollars 10...Integrity 4?
