[TenTec] Argosy testing

Mike,

I apologize for not replying to you. The Argosy is back on the air and
working fine. Cutting the red lead and running it through my old
Tripplett Multi-meter showed at least some of the problem. It looked
like the transistors were a bit over driven so I backed off the driving
amperage a little, and I seem to get good reports. I also cleaned up
the Model 700 mike that came with it and I have been a bit more
sensitive to setting the SSB drive level, The reports seem good so far.
I am planning on taking it portable. What can be nicer than a sandwich
and and a QSO at lunch time. Still working on what antenna to go with.
AD5X has a nice portable vertical that can be adjusted for each band so
no tuner is needed. That seems to be it for now. Throw a 12 V sealed
motorcycle battery in the trunk and I am good to go, as they say.
With a little luck, we might just be able to work eacdh other.

73 for now,

John / WA1JG
