[TenTec] Omni VI and lack of Variable BW tuning

I've been wondering why Ten Tec never included variable bandwitch tuning in
conjunction with the passband tuning?
Heck, they were 90% there once they added the 9 MHz and
6.3 MHz cascaded IF filters... it would have been a neat feature.
How hard would it have been to warp the BFO frequencies?
