[TenTec] Model 540 / 544 Question

Am looking at a project to upgrade a Model 540 to a Model 544 insofar as the digital display feature. The AADE digital display kit (modified) is what I am looking to use on the project. Before I reinvent the wheel or plow really old ground, has someone done this before and are there any source reference documents?
