[TenTec] Paragon II model 586 questions

The 9V battery used in the original Paragon is a standard 9 volt
rechargeable battery. You know the kind that has 2 snap terminals on top.
The Paragon II has an internal CPU battery system which I understand the
chip/device is no longer available. I suspect they might be found as NOS on
the surplus market but it makes one wonder if the battery is still good due
to age.

The life of the original battery is projected as some 8 to 10 years per the
manual. In my case and the Paragon II I owned was some 15 years old and was
still very reliable. As to any suitable replacement or method to
effectively bypass the internal battery, I'm not aware of such.
