Let's put this in context. Mike, W9RE, and Craig, K9CT, both have built
big multi-op contesting stations, where cable runs to antennas are long
and crosstalk between stations is a big deal. I have the same sort of
design criteria here, although probably not nearly so impressive an
antenna farm, so most of my runs are hard line of some sort. In
addition to lower loss, hard line has two big advantages over coax -- it
provides superior shielding because of the construction of the shield,
and it's varmint proof.
BUT -- the original question that began this thread was about a 75 ft
run, the antenna gets used only on HF, and he's not a contester. IN THAT
CONTEXT, unless he has varmint issues. My advice, which I am repeating,
is that LMR400 is the RIGHT choice for HIM, and that if he has the LDF4,
he should save it for use on 2M or 432 MHz.
