[TenTec] Using Non-TT Supply

I run solar to 4 deep discharge batts and go to a inverter and a Jet Stream power supply which always gives me 13.8 volts no matter what the batts are putting out. Been on line for over 2 years this way and no problems. Jim

John,
That much, (5V) of AC on the DC bus all the time is a bad sign.
However, are you twisting the red and black VOM test leads to prevent
stray AC pickup?  You should minimize any different path for the red and
black wires to the VOM, by twisting the two as a twisted pair which
cancels incidental pickup from other sources.

Electrolytics "may" last 10 years, but it all depends on what
temperature rating they had, the temperature of the operating
environment, and other factors of wear and tear on the power supply.

Some Ten Tec Radios do not take kindly to having less than 12 volts.
Don't operate the radio with 10.5 volts.

Good Luck, I would say you are due some new capacitors.  But check other
things, like if all the transistors, (power types) have about the same
temperature in the regulation circuit, especially if they are running in
parallel.  Pertains particularly to Astron supplies.
