[TenTec] New 703 Mic

Ed -

I think it sounds fine. Some of the local audio experts say it is a bit
restricted with a mid-range peak. I think, for my purposes, that's good.

I have minimized the button noise by snipping off a bit of the switch
plunger inside the mike. Now the button activates the PTT just a bit
before its travel limit. Thus, the noise and scratching the mic puts
out over the air is now restricted to that last bit of button travel.
Don't try this at home. Snip too much and you need a new plunger ->
switch -> mic.

Found that if I carefully opened the case {watch for spring loaded parts} by removing 3 screws in the back, and using Vaseline to lubricate the PTT button pivot at 2 places {front and back half} and the tip of the bar that activates the switch the issue is corrected. A flat toothpick is ideal for applying a very small amount of the lubricant. I don't advocate using any type of spray lubricant under any circumstance.
